Ivan Yaffe Makes $2,500 Donation To Underprivileged Youth Soccer Players

Portland Timbers stars George Fochive, Bill Tuiloma, Eryk Williamson, & Larrys Mabiala made their first public appearance of the off-season on Saturday, 12/31 at the United PDX Winter Soccer Camp held at Oregon Episcopal School. The camp hosted over 200 youth soccer players from all across Oregon.

All net proceeds from the event will used to provide financial aid for underprivileged youth soccer players in the Portland Metro Area who play for United PDX, a registered Oregon nonprofit organization serving nearly 3,000 players in Portland metro.

The Portland youth soccer community holds a special place in the heart of all four players, especially Fochive, who recently made a personal donation of $2,500 to United PDX through proceeds from his Ivan Yaffe Art Gala to help subsidize the trips of a select number of children from United PDX who will be traveling abroad to Spain for a soccer tournament in July 2023.

Tuiloma, Williamson, Mabiala and Fochive rotated around the various training stations while the campers are being instructed by United PDX coaches. Players also got to sit down for a brief and informal Q&A with the campers and engage in scrimmage play with the players in attendance.

United PDX is the largest youth soccer club in Oregon and the only one in the state whose boys’ premier teams compete in the prestigious Elite Clubs National League (ECNL). Earlier this month, the club announced the launch of expansion teams in the USL2 and USL Women’s soccer leagues. Both semi-pro teams are slated to begin play in 2023.
